Coverings 2024: Where Tile’s Versatility, Trendsetting Designs, Wellness Attributes Shined

Robust foot traffic, combined with exuberant exhibitors, made for an off-the-charts Coverings 2024 event! With a noticeable increase in attendees, the annual tile and stone exhibition surpassed any expectations in showcasing the latest in tile designs, formats, textures, and dimensions.
Thankfully, the use of deep, vivid, and glossy were on full display, much to my own glee, and those of the thousands of visitors! Notably, intense blues, oranges, reds, and greens on all shades of the spectrum presented themselves as evolutionary when paired with more subtle choices. The U.S. market has been ready for a change, one that brings excitement and interest for all interior and exterior tile selections specified for new builds, or remodels.
Without further ado, here is a brief overview of show-stopping, attention-grabbing new tile products that caught my attention during the four-day event.
VISIONS of TERRACOTTA: What’s Old is New
The look of weathered/aged terracotta from Porcelanicos HDC2.
Inspired by architecture, WOW Ceramics’ Icon series offers minimalist style with a high-impact design.
HIGH-DEFINITION: Rich Hues & Intense Depth
Equipe Ceramicas’ Vitral collection of white body wall tile offers high intensity color for making impactful design statements.
Decoratori Bassanesi unveiled its Tartan porcelain tile collection. Designed by artist Sebastian Herkner, it features vertical and horizontal reliefs, similar to Tartan cloth, in several high-gloss shades.
HANDMADE ARTISAN TILE
From Los Angeles, CA-based Arto is a handmade, hand-glazed artisan tile panel highlighting pomegranates.
Artisan tile from Dazed and Glazed features designs made one-by-one by fusing a thin veneer of glass onto a ceramic tile surface.
MOSAICS/MOSAIC TILE ART
With the look of mosaic panels, Mirage’s Nagomi, part of its Atelier collection, was created by architect Hadi Teherani. The collection uses recycled materials (glass, porcelain) to create irregular shapes and surfaces.
Seed Decorative Material Co. creations featured crystal glass mosaic art, such as this vivid, life-like floral rendition.
MARVELOUS BIOMIMICRY: Stone Looks
Realism mimicking naturally mined stone was on full display by Italian tile manufacturer Ceramica Sant’Agostino.
Florida Tile – part of PanariaGroup USA – invoked curiosity and envy with its Indulge collection of marble-look tile.
BIOPHILIC ENGRAVINGS: Wood Look
The Lexington series of wood-look ceramic wall tiles from Porcelanosa mimics the look of wooden slats and parquet with its true-to-nature veneer.
Bamboo Haven, featured by Merola Tile, is a ceramic tile collection that mirrors Bamboo with its color variations and textures.
TACTILE WALL TILE
Keraben’s decorative wall tile, part of its Terracotta collection of rectified white body wall tiles, offers visual reinforcement of easily obtainable design possibilities.
Pop, a collection of white body ceramic tiles from Terratinta Ceramiche, embraces the past with the nostalgia and elegance of the 70’s.
IMAGINATIVE NEW SHAPES
With its rendition of bird feathers (or leaves), the Alma collection from Cifre Ceramica offers a highly tactile, and shapely wall tile.

PATTERN ENVY
Playlist from Panaria Ceramica features geometrical patterns that can be mixed and matched with solid-colored tile from the collection.
Whether you chose scales and circles, or the heightened look of vertical subway tile, Alttoglass Group created inspirational patterns for any living area.
EVERYTHING BUT THE WALLS & FLOORS
The Smart Kitchen line from Gamadecor has been flawlessly integrated into Porcelanosa’s sintered stone collection – XTONE. With its integrated, wireless countertop/cooking system, this seamless design creates an aesthetically pleasing countertop with an invisible induction cooktop.
Tile continues to evolve from serving as a surface cover for walls and floors – as evident here with Ceramica Bardelli’s use of tile as furniture.
Obviously, there were a plethora of innovative new tile designs, manufacturing methods, and technologies on display, too many to include in one article.
