Tile Heritage Foundation Co-Founder to Present Decorative Tile Lecture
In coordination with the newly launched Batchelder Exhibition, the Pasadena Museum of History presents “Out of the Blue,” Creating Beauty from the Earth: Decorative Tiles of Southern California, 1910-1930.”
On October 4, 2016, Joseph A. Taylor, co-founder and president of the Tile Heritage Foundation, will trace the revolutionary development of decorative tile making in Southern California during the first quarter of the 20th century. His lecture will compare tiles and installations of major manufacturers.
Taylor was initiated into the world of tiles when he became a partner in McIntyre Tile Co. in Healdsburg, CA in the 1970s. He will share his years of research on the evolution of tile manufacturing in California, leaving attendees with the confidence of recognizing a Batchelder tile when you see one!
The hosted reception begins at 6:00pm in The Pasadena Playhouse courtyard, followed by Taylor’s lecture in the library, which features a stunning Batchelder fireplace.
The event is sponsored by The Pasadena Playhouse and Red White & Bluezz. Tickets can be reserved here.
